Hanoi stimulates consumption of Vietnamese products   2009-11-02 - VietNamNet/VOV

A one-month long promotion campaign was launched in the capital city on October 31 in an effort to encourage Hanoians to use Vietnamese products.

The programme involves the participation of nearly 350 businesses specialising in food, drinks, fashion, garments and textiles, footwear, electronics, interior decorations, household furnishings and restaurant services. About 95 percent of the goods on sale are made in Vietnam.

Apart from promotional areas in the city, businesses are putting up kiosks in the suburbs to serve the people in outlying districts and the countryside.

In particular, there is a Gold Promotion Day on November 15 when there will be discounts of 30-50% on promotional items, mostly electronics, household utensils and garments.

To ensure the consumer rights, the Hanoi People’s Committee has asked businesses to abide by promotional rules and guarantee the quality of the products.

The Municipal Department of Trade and Industry has asked 32 market control groups to boost supervision and apply strict punishments for cheating.

Consumers can get more information on the promotional programmes and report any breach of the rules to market control through the hot line 1081.

The Promotion Month is a chance to stimulate the consumption of Vietnamese products in response to the “Vietnamese people use Vietnamese goods” campaign launched by the Party’s Political Bureau.
