FPT Telecom joins int’l undersea cable system project   2008-01-31 - VNA

The FPT Telecom Joint Stock Company (FPT Telecom) has officially joined a project to develop a high-speed broadband submarine fiber optical cable network connecting Southeast Asia and the US.

Ha Noi (VNA) – The FPT Telecom Joint Stock Company (FPT Telecom) has officially joined a project to develop a high-speed broadband submarine fiber optical cable network connecting Southeast Asia and the US.

FPT Telecom contributed 10 million USD to the 560 million USD America-Asia Gateway (AAG) which spans 20,000km from Malaysia to the US.

The section running through Viet Nam’s waters will have a total length of 314km and an initial installed capacity of 240 Gbps.

Other three Vietnamese telecom firms have already involved in the cable project, namely the army-owned telecommunication service company Viettel, the Saigon Post and Telecommunications Service Company Saigon Postel and the Viet Nam Post and Telecommunications Group ( VNPT).
